We are so excited to have listed our first workshop.
In case you missed it....Saturday 14th April 2018 is drop spindle spinning day!
For those who have never heard of, or even tried, spinning with a drop spindle then you are in for a treat! Historians think it is a skill that goes back over 10,000 years. We hope you agree that there can be no better way to kick off our heritage fibre teaching than with such an ancient art form?
It is a fantastic skill, spinning your own yarn before you create something wonderful from it. It is relaxing and requires very little equipment indeed. If you love knitting, crochet or weaving adding hand spun yarn to a project will take your making to a whole new level.
I am really excited to be able to teach this skill so that more of us can appreciate how to turn scoured fleecy fluff into beautiful, wearable items. I have freshly scoured fleece around the house in a desperate attempt to dry it in the worst of weather conditions so there will be plenty of beautiful, local Gower Ryeland wool to play with. It really is a beautiful fibre.
So pass the word on! Come and join us at the Gower Heritage Centre and learn a new skill in readiness for the spring of 2018 (surely it is just around the corner?!).
See you soon.
