Just a quick blog post to say thank you to all those who attended our hand spinning workshop at Gower Heritage Centre Woollen Mill on Saturday.
We had a fab time teaching a great bunch of ladies to spin their own yarn.
Tea, cake & biscuits were had by all as well as a whole heap of fun. Everyone went away with a new skill and their own length of hand spun yarn.
Did I mention cake? Tasha is a great baker!
Many people think that you need your own spinning wheel to spin yarn. A significant investment and not one to be undertaken lightly. In fact, spinning started out on simple drop spindles and it is perfectly possible to spin large quantities of yarn in the same way today. Don't believe me? Check out our website and have a look at the amazing creations out there on the web.
If you fancy learning to spin your own yarn in a fabulous, and inexpensive, way then check out our website for other workshops we are running. Our workshops offer a relaxed environment to learn a new skill, skills that are all too often being lost in our world of modern technology.
The drop spindle has been around for thousands of years as humans have made yarn from a variety of fibres. I guess I am biased .... but I love the process, the portability and the mesmerising process of watching the yarn change from beautiful fibres into a yarn and onwards to knitting or woven items...
Drop us an email to book your workshop today.
And don't forget to enjoy to sunshine!
