Our Booking Terms & Conditions

Please read our policies before booking your course

Class Attendance

All of our classes are subject to pre-booking. Please make sure you arrive on time for your workshop, if you are going to be late please ensure you email or facebook message to let us know, it's only polite.  Please note that we may not be able to accomodate you on the class if you are late.

Unfortunately, time can not be made up if you are late.

Class locations vary so please check our class listing or ask if you are unsure.

For classes taking place at the Gower Heritage Centre Woollen Mill, access is via the main entrance.  You should present your printed invoice at the counter, this will allow you free access into the Heritage Centre.  Signs will direct you to the Woollen Mill.

For classes taking place at the Elysium Studios in Swansea, access to the studio is via electronic key fobs, held only by those renting studios within the unit, as such we ask that all students wait outside at the blue doors (Orchard Street entrance) until the tutor comes down and collects you.  It is important that you arrive no later than 5 minutes before the start of the class so you can be given access to the building.   Please note there is no general public access to the building.

Refunds & Cancellations

Due to our need to plan in advance for our classes we cannot offer refunds.

In the event you can not attend your booked class, you are able to transfer to the next available date up to 7 days before the start of the original class. Transfers can only be offered once and where there is a comparible class available.

Requests for rescheduling your booking will not be accepted within 7 days of the date of your booking. While we appreciate that sudden illness etc can happen students need to be aware that lot of preparation work goes into each class and as our diary fills quickly it becomes more difficult to then find additional time to fit in cancellations.

If in the event a class is insufficiently filled, we reserve the right to cancel. You will be entitled to a full refund.

In order to ensure that the correct amount of materials are supplied for those booked onto a workshop, bookings will often be closed 3-4 days before the date of the class, so it is essential that you book as soon as possible in order to avoid disappointment.

Safety & Conduct

At the start of each class, your teacher will run through the health & safety considerations, fire safety policies and expectations of behaviour & conduct during the class.

We expect all students to conduct themselves in a pleasant and polite manner towards the tutor and other students. It should go without saying but verbal or physical aggression will not be tolerated under any circumstances, if you can not behave appropriately you will be asked to leave. Failure to leave when requested will result in the staff calling the police.

At Ffibrau Y Gwyr we take theft very seriously. When each student is booked in at the start of the class the equipment they are issued are logged - we understand that sometimes things get lost so please inform your tutor if items from your kit box go missing so as not to be billed for the loss.

Risk of Injury

Our heritage crafts can involve a lot of sharp pointy dangerous things in the form of needles, pins, scissors, seam rippers, wires, electricity and then there are the pointy crochet hooks and the potential for tripping or strangulation of yarn which all present a risk of injury if not used correctly. By booking onto any of the classes available through Ffibrau Y Gwyr you are agreeing to take responsibility for yourself and your actions, to listen to the advice of your tutor and generally be sensible.  You should also take responsibility for considering any allergy that you have that may affect your ability to participate in the course.  We work with raw and scoured fleece from a variety of animals and therefore our courses are unlikely to be suitable for anyone with an allergy connected to animal fur, fleece or lanolin.

Personal Belongings

Your personal belongings are at all times your own responsibility and not that of Ffibrau Y Gwyr or any tutors working on their behalf.

Bags should be tucked away so as not to present a trip hazard and not left on the tables while you are working.

Classes can only be booked via email.  We will use your email to issue you with an invoice and by booking with us you consent to our retaining your email in this way.  We will correspond with you as regards any issues relating to the workshop place you have booked, by email.
Please make sure your email includes your full name and contact telephone number.
When we receive an email requesting a place be booked on our classes, we will issue you with an emailed invoice.  Payment must be made electronically no later than 7 days after the date the invoice was issued or five days before the date of the workshop, whichever is the earlier.  The invoice will contain our bank details for transfers to be made.  We do not accept payments in the workshop.  Your place on the course is only confirmed once we receive your payment, until then bookings are taken on a first paid basis.
Payments for classes made via the Sew Swansea website are to be made by paypal and you will be guided through the process upon booking.

Children and classes for children
Classes at Ffibrau Y Gwyr are for adult attendees only unless otherwise specified.  Classes for older children may, from time to time be listed.  These are specific classes targeted at child only learners (although parents must stay and not leave their child unattended) or Parent/Child classes where parent and child attend and learn together.
Children are not permitted to attend any of our other classes at this point as we feel it is better to have dedicated classes for our specific customer groups.

Child learners must be aged 12 years or above and parents are reminded they are responsible for their children at all times.

Any non-participating children, this includes toddlers and babies, are not permitted in the workshop during a class. Every child who wishes to take part in a class must be pre-booked and their place paid for prior to the class.

Please note that children are not to be left unattended during any classes and due to space restraints we can only allow one person per child to attend.

As with our adult classes, the children's classes are kept small . This is to ensure the quality of teaching, we feel strongly that larger classes are not beneficial to anyone and want every student to enjoy their time with us.

Forfeit of your booking

It is your responsibility to have read in full our workshop policies. If you book a class and violate any of our polices you will be asked to leave and forfeit your fee in full.
